Rhododendron Yak Golden Torch
Rhododendron Yakushimanum Golden Torch. A compact upright, evergreen shrub with clusters of soft yellow coloured flowers opening from salmon-pink buds fading to pale yellow or cream in late spring and early summer. Makes a highly attractive border specimen. Max Height 1.5m. Max Spread 1.5m. Flowers May to June.
Plant in moist acidic well drained soil. Full sun / Partial shade, hardy. Provide a deep winter mulch for added protection.
General Rhododendron Planting and care
- Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
- Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
- Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
- Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
- Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
- Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
- Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
